Rotherham Titans are today pleased to announce the addition of second rower Rob Louw to their squad ahead of the 2017/18 Greene King IPA Championship season.
South African born, Louw spent the early part of his rugby career playing for NMMU RFC and Maties RFC back in South Africa, before moving to Gala RFC in Scotland.
Rob, 26, has spent the last two seasons with Gala, making 24 appearances and scoring 6 tries along the way. Louw has also represented South of Scotland during his time north of the border.
Standing at 6’ 6” and weighing 118kg, Rob is sure to add a physical presence to the Titans engine room. His ability in the line out, combined with his ball-carrying skills are likely to make Rob an important component of the Titans pack next term.
Commenting on his deal to join Rotherham, Rob explained, “I’ve had two seasons at Gala RFC where I have learnt a lot from my coaches, especially ex internationals George Graham and Opeta Palepoi, as prolific forwards in their time I was able to gain a lot under them.
“Tom from TDB Sports and I spoke about getting myself into the Championship and after speaking to Andy and hearing his plans and blue prints for the season I was intrigued and glad I can be a part of this set up.
“It’s a great opportunity at a great club and I’m looking forward to being part of the Rotherham Titans rugby community.”
