Rotherham expect to have their National 1 ambitions tested this weekend when they travel south to Bedfordshire to take on Ampthill & District Rugby Club; kick-off at Dillingham Park is 2:15pm.
Ampthill have made an impressive start to the season having won 5 games to date, including eye-catching victories over Cinderford and Blackheath; the latter being particularly impressive as the London side have lost only 2 games this term.
Having finished fourth in the league last season, 18 points clear of fifth, Ampthill will be aiming to go even higher this time around and they will fancy putting a stop to Titans’ recent run of good results.
Going into the clash Rotherham have made 2 changes to the starting XV which beat Plymouth Albion 25-14 at Clifton Lane last time out.
Both changes come in the backline with Jamie Cooke coming in at outside centre for the injured Harry Dunne (hand) and at scrum half Connor Dever is given the nod over Alex Dolly who drops to the bench.
Aware of the challenge ahead and mindful of the huge pack of forwards Ampthill have at their disposal, Titans Director of Rugby, Martin Jenkinson, explained, “This game is a big one for us. To go there and get a result against one of the fancied teams this season will be a big marker.
“It will be a big arm wrestle up front and if we can match them there and move the ball around as we have been doing then it’s one I feel we can win.”
