Rotherham Titans round off their National 1 campaign on Saturday with a tough test when they travel to second placed side Old Elthamians; kick-off at College Meadow is 3pm.
For Rotherham it all began against Old Elthamians back in September at Clifton Lane, where on the opening day although outscoring their opposition by five tries to four, it was the London based club who edged the game 34-33.
Since then Old Elthamians have enjoyed a hugely successful season, losing just 5 games; a feat unmatched by any side in the division. Indeed, if they could have matched Ampthill for picking up bonus points they would be sitting top of the pile two points clear going into the final weekend.
So Titans are aware of the challenge ahead, particularly against a side who boast an excellent home record. Elthamians sole reversal at College Meadow this term was a 12-11 defeat to local rivals Blackheath.
However, this young Titans squad is always up for a challenge and they will look to cause an upset on the final day against a side who mathematically can still win the league if Ampthill don’t get anything at relegated side Loughborough Students.
Going into the match Rotherham have made just two changes to the starting XV which lost to Blackheath last time out, with in the backs Jamie Cooke coming in at outside centre for Ellis Abrahams and up front Rikki Stout is given the nod at tight head over Will Dennis.
Titans: 15 Sam Allan, 14 Dan Leake, 13 Jamie Cooke, 12 Harry Dunne, 11 Connor Field, 10 Callum Irvine, 9 Alex Dolly, 1 Dan Richardson, 2 Jack Bergmanas, 3 Rikki Stout, 4 Antony Dickinson, 5 Luis Ball, 6 Ali Thomson, 7 Zak Poole, 8 Seb Nagle-Taylor (Capt.).
