Titans all set for Rams

Rotherham Titans are ready and set for a tough test when they travel to top-end side Rams on Saturday, as they continue to try and close the gap at the bottom of the table; kick-off at Old Bath Road is 2pm.

Following last weekend’s fixture break the Rotherham lads are fully refreshed and raring to go in what is expected to be one of the toughest away games of the season.

However, Titans form since the turn of the year has been encouraging; their results in 2020 has seen them pick-up at least a point in every game and they will look to continue that run against the Reading based outfit, who currently sit in fourth place in the table.

Going into the clash Rotherham have made just two changes to the starting XV that beat Hull Ionians 26-10 last time out.

Along the backline centre Jamie Cooke has recovered from a foot injury and comes back in for Tom Bullough who is struggling with a shoulder injury. Whilst the sole change in the pack sees Anthony Maka come back in at number 8 for Kieran Curran.

The one positional change sees Tom Bacon and Tom Benjamin swap places at full back and wing.

Speaking ahead of the game and recognising the dangers Rams will pose, Titans Steve Salvin explained, “Rams are a big physical side who build their game around the set piece, as so many teams in this division do and that’s where the first battle will be.

“If we can get some return from our set piece this weekend; then as usual we go into the game with the intention of trying to take something from it.

“Having watched the video of the game that we played against them earlier in the season, the thing that probably strikes me above anything else is how well organised they are; they’ve obviously got real clarity around what their roles are individually.

“As a team, I assume they have been together a reasonable amount of time having come up last season, they’ve got a lot of unity and a lot of energy about them and as such we are expecting a very tough game.”
