Lee Blackett: “I can’t remember the last time we came to Bedford and got 5 points, never mind scoring eight tries. I was really proud of the way the boys reacted after last week’s game against London Scottish. We arrived at the ground late after hitting a big traffic jam, but the best thing about these boys is they don’t make excuses.
“The way we fronted up from the outset pleased me and I think we deserved the victory and the score line. The boys worked very hard from the first minute to the last and I think that shows what a good team we have.
“We knew we had to have a reaction and we knew we were under a little bit of pressure this week. We don’t lie, we are very honest within the club and we knew after last week we needed a win and the boys came out firing. We just need to make sure we now back that performance up with another one next week against Plymouth Albion.
“I think Lloyd Hayes, who was making his first Championship start, had a really good game, particularly in the first half. It was a tough choice really because Sean Scanlon could have potentially played, but we have so much belief in Lloyd and we think he could go far in the game. So for Lloyd to come in and play the way he did on his Championship debut shows what a great player he will be.”
