The Titans Community Foundation has secured funding from the National Lottery Community Fund to support the work they already do in the community. One element of our project is to re-connect our supporters with the Club, as restrictions lift over the summer.
The UK Government said:
“COVID-19 has affected all our lives and our livelihoods in profound ways over the last year. The nation has come together to keep ourselves and our loved ones safe, but there has been a cost. The virus itself, and the necessary measures to contain its spread, have triggered feelings of worry, distress or loneliness for many of us.”
Many of our supporters have experienced isolation, loneliness, and disconnection from people, as well as being excluded from social activities, such as a pint, a chat with friends and watching rugby at Clifton Lane. Sadly, some of our long-term supporters will no longer be with us when we finally are able to open up Clifton Lane.
The Club needs to find ways to bring people together, for them to feel safe to leave their homes, to build or rekindle our social support networks, to be active, and to interact with others again.
The first stage of our plan is called ‘Titans Chat’ and several of our players, led by those involved with the Titans Community Foundation, will be contacting our supporters for a chat and a catch-up over the next month. The first group to be contacted will be people from our older supporters (60+) as this is one of the targets we must meet for the funding.
How it works:
The TCF will contact supporters, via text and email, to set up the best time for the ‘Titans Chat’ and the player will call directly, but they will call from a ‘withheld number’ so will text a few minutes before so that you know it is them.
When the Clubhouse re-opens in June, they will be in touch to offer the opportunity for a chat, tea and cakes, in a Covid safe way at the Club.
Over the summer this will extend to lunch with the players and other supporters, again in a Covid safe way at Clifton Lane, if the road-map continues to progress as outlined.
.
If you would like to be included, or know someone who would appreciate the chance to chat with our players, as part of helping them get back into social activities, please let us know via tcf@titans-rugby.com
The players will also ask if there are people you know who might appreciate a call.
We are grateful for the support of the National Lottery, as we start to welcome everyone back to Clifton Lane.
The Club has survived because of the generosity of our directors, our supporters and our sponsors over the last year. After a long 13 months of waiting, we have the opportunity to welcome you back to the #TitansFamily, with the prospect of an exciting squad, lots of social opportunities at the Clubhouse, and support for everyone to participate and enjoy what Rotherham Titans and Clifton Lane has to offer.
