Titans prepared for another tough away test

Rotherham Titans face another stiff away test this weekend when they travel to Luctonians in round 21 of National 2 North; kick-off on Saturday at Mortimer Park is 2:15pm.

Both teams will come into this one in good form; in their last two outings Rotherham have beaten Stourbridge and Hull Ionians, whilst the home side have handed out 75-0 and 21-0 drubbings to Harrogate.

Luctonians home form in particular this season has been impressive; they have beaten top 5 sides Fylde and Stourbridge and no doubt they’ll be looking to add the Titans scalp this weekend.

Going into this tricky encounter Roth have made three changes to the starting XV which beat Ionians 40-12 at Clifton Lane last week.

All of the changes come in the pack. Theo Nwosu-Hope comes in at lock for the injured Matt Smith, whilst skipper Zak Poole returns from injury and comes into the back row for Callum Bustin who also picked up an injury in last week’s bruising encounter. The final change sees Lewis Wilson come in for Matti Williams at openside flanker.

Speaking ahead of the game Titans’ Adam Byron said:

“It’s a long trip this week and so it’s a different type of challenge for us to negotiate. Luctonians are a good side and they are particularly good at home, as their wins over Fylde and Stourbridge will attest.

“We’ve had a good week on the training field and we’ve prepared well for the task ahead. We’ll need to make sure we turn up there ready and raring to go.

“The boys have been playing well recently and we want maintain our focus of controlling our game management and then to make sure we are clinical when our opportunities arise. If we can do that then we’ll give ourselves every chance of getting the right result.”
