Titans expect tough battle against Tigers

Rotherham Titans will finish their 21/22 campaign with a tough test against local rivals Sheffield Tigers on Saturday; please note the earlier kick-off time at Clifton Lane of 12 noon.

It’s been a long and sometimes difficult season for all teams in National 2 North and for Rotherham this will be their 18th consecutive game without a break!

There were signs last week that a 30-game season and an unprecedented list of injuries was eventually beginning to take its toll, as Roth crashed to a disappointing defeat at Wharfedale; where they yet again picked up a long-term serious injury.

This time it was winger Jamie Cooke; Jamie suffered a double fracture of his lower leg and has since undergone surgery and everyone at the club and beyond wishes Jamie well and a speedy recovery.

Indeed, at this stage Titans may not be able to field a 20 man squad, but what they will do is put in a shift as they look to end the season unbeaten at home.

Tigers however are not to be underestimated, and they won’t be, as they will come into the game on the back of a very impressive 43-28 win over high-flyers Stourbridge last time out.

Titans have made 3 changes to their starting XV with across the backline Lloyd Hayes coming in for Joe Carlisle. Hayes will start at full back as Sam Veall moves to fly half. Lewis Taylor comes in at outside centre for Jamie Cooke.

The sole change in the pack sees Colin Quigley given the nod at tight head over Rikki Stout who drops onto the bench.

Titans: 15 Lloyd Hayes, 14 Connor Field, 13 Lewis Taylor, 12 Harry Dunne, 21 George Tucker, 10 Sam Veall, 9 Sam Boxhall, 18 Alastair Donkor, 2 Jack Bergmanas, 3 Colin Quigley, 4 Theo Nwosu-Hope, 5 Lewis Allan, 6 Kieran Curran, 7 Marcus Payne, 8 Zak Poole (Capt.).

Replacements: 19 Tom Richardson, 27 Rikki Stout, 22 Oli Fisher.
