Titans expecting tough test against in form Huddersfield

Rotherham Titans expect to be tested on Saturday when they travel to in-form side Huddersfield in Nat 2 North; kick-off at Lockwood Park is 2:15pm.

Following last week’s home defeat to league leaders Sedgley Park, Titans will be fully aware of the challenge which awaits them in West Yorkshire, as they take on a side that has won 6 of their last 7 outings, making them one of the most in-form teams in the division.

Furthermore, Rotherham will remember all too well the disappointment of a 36-31 defeat in the corresponding fixture last term and they will be eager to try and come away with a better outcome this time around.

Going into the game Roth have made 2 changes to their starting XV, both of which come in the back line.

Sam Boxhall comes in at scrum half for the injured Connor Dever and Joe Carlisle starts at fly half as Lloyd Hayes moves to full back and Sam Veall on to the wing for the injured Jack Taylor.

Speaking ahead of the match Titans head coach, Gary Pearce said:

“Whilst we were disappointed to lose against Sedgley, I thought our effort and commitment and our quality shone through and that’s because we’re not a bad side.

“In the last few week’s we have played the top 3 teams and whilst we have won 1 and lost 2, we haven’t looked out of place in any of those games.

“The enthusiasm from the lads has been good, not just in the games but in training also and they’re working really hard to improve and get better.

“On the back of that we’ll have to put in another good shift against a Huddersfield team that has really hit form recently. They’ve won 6 out of 7 and that should tell you they’re not a bad side and we will absolutely pay them the respect they deserve.

“They’ve got some good lads who have been there a while and they’re pretty strong throughout. We can’t just turn up and expect to get the result, we’ve got to go and earn it and that will be the message from our end.

“However, we believe we’re a decent side too and I think we’ve shown that recently and we should go there with confidence and I’m sure we will. I fully believe if we can play like we have been playing recently we’ll give ourselves a great opportunity to get a result.

“We’re after delivering performances, that’s what we stress to the lads, because if you can deliver a performance more often than not the result takes care of itself and we will travel on Saturday with the aim of putting in a performance.”
