Long term friend and media correspondent of Rotherham Rugby Club, Guy Williams, has a new book out called - A Miner's Lamp and a Brass Table - and is well worth a read.
Yorkshire sporting heroes, Sir Ian McGeechan and Sir Geoffrey Boycott, are just two of the personalities covered by journalist Guy Williams as he reflects on more than 50 years working in the media.
Whether writing for newspapers and magazines or employed by the BBC and Yorkshire Television reporting on news and sport, most of his career has been spent living in Yorkshire.
As well as writing on cricket and rugby union, Guy has also done many stories with a wide range of public figures from politics, show business and industry.
He continues to write for The Cricket Paper and The Rugby Paper, The Yorkshire Post and its magazine.
Guy says he’s been lucky to live and work in Yorkshire, and thanks Yorkshire people for making his career so much fun. Amidst a media revolution, A Miner’s Lamp and a Brass Table, recalls an era which, in his case, had some certainty and stability.
