When it came to signing his acceptance of office there was only one choice of tie for re-elected borough councillor and Titans fan Michael Bennett-Sylvester and it had to be the claret and blue Titans club tie.
Accompanied by his with and even longer-term Titans fan Leah, Michael signed the official documents at Riverside House.
“I would have pushed my luck wearing my centenary season jersey to the signing in but I’m incredibly proud to support a club who this season has been champions on and off the pitch,” said Michael.
His ward covers some of the most deprived areas of England and in East Herringthorpe which is classed as being in the most deprived 1% of English neighbourhoods, the Titans Community Foundation in partnership with Michael’s neighbourhood team and High Greave Schools, have delivered holiday programmes for local children, assisted in promoting the launch of a refurbished multi use games area on the estate and held their highly successful walking rugby programme in the High Greave School sports hall.
“Rugby Union has a reputation for just being for Rupert’s and Henry’s, but in my ward the sport is delivering for those who have least and it was an honour to re-sign after a successful election wearing the claret and blue,” said Michael.
