Director of Rugby, Martin Jenkinson comments on the new recruits - and the Titans ‘Old Boy’:
“We are delighted with the way our recruitment has gone. We felt we needed to inject some pace into the squad and we have done that. While our set piece last season was top drawer, we wanted to introduce industry into the forwards and we think we’ve done that too. We want to be winning the 50-50 balls and, through the new players, we believe we have put that in.
“Toby Williams is a good signing for us. He has experience at this level and above. Our scrum was good anyway last year but, with Dan Richardson taking the opportunity to go to Jersey, getting Toby back is a real bonus. Among the other players we have brought in, Anthony Maka I tried to sign ten years ago and Lewis Wilson is a Premiership quality number 7. With them, and the signings from Leeds, they all have Championship experience.
“Sam Hollingsworth is a good signing. He had 24 games for Moseley last year, 18 of them at fly-half and six at full-back. He is another top quality signing and we also have great hopes for Tom Williams, the centre. With regards to pace, Ben Robbins is a real speed merchant.
“We have greater strength in depth this season, alongside some great players from last year, and it’s a squad I expect to challenge.
“We want a 31-man squad and we have about 27 now and we are still in negotiations with three or four players.”
More details on all our new players will appear via our social media channels and on the website.
