Director of Rugby, Martin Jenkinson, had this to say about the squad, the players retained from last season, and recruitment for 2019-20:
“We are delighted to welcome back so many quality players from last season. While our set piece last season was top drawer, we wanted to introduce industry into the forwards and we think we’ve done that too with some of our new signings to challenge the players from last season. We want to be winning the 50-50 balls and, through the new players, we believe we have put that in.
“We have greater strength in depth this season, alongside the great players from last year, and it’s a squad I expect to challenge, especially with the way our recruitment has gone. We felt we needed to inject some pace into the squad and we have done that.
“We want a 31-man squad and we have about 27 now and we are still in negotiations with three or four players.
“We have greater strength in depth this season, and it’s a squad I expect to challenge.”
