Rotherham Titans are today delighted to announce the addition of Drew Cheshire to their squad ahead of the 2017/18 Greene King IPA Championship season.
Cheshire, 25, can player either in the centres or on the wing and has joined the Titans from National One side Moseley, having formerly been a product of Gloucester academy.
Prior to joining Moseley, Drew spent a number of seasons with Luctonians where he experienced first team rugby in both National League 3 Midlands and National League 2 North. Drew has been one of the most prolific try-scorers in the National Leagues, having scored 46 tries in 69 games for Luctonians.
However, whilst with Gloucester he gained valuable experience in the LV=Cup and made his Premiership debut against Worcester Warriors.
Drew was introduced to rugby at the tender age of eight by his dad Mark, before joining his hometown club Hereford. He stayed there until 16 while captaining his school side at Whitecross High, before moving on to Luctonians.
His performances at club level helped him earn him an England Counties call-up in 2013 and a place in TRP’s National League Two North Dream Team in 2014,
Having completed his University degree at Cardiff Met, Drew is now eager to fully concentrate on his rugby career and he’s determined to put in the necessary hard work in order to see how far he can go in the game.
Excited about the challenge ahead Drew commented, "I am relishing the opportunity to play for Rotherham Titans and being back in the Championship. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Moseley and with Kevin Maggs' departure; I felt it was best for my career to move on too.
“Having met with Andy and speaking about pre-season and the upcoming season, he has ensured a good brand of rugby and get to Rotherham back to the position in the Championship they want.
“I can't wait to meet the lads and I am excited about the challenge!"
